Hola Mama y Papa,

Yesterday I started to write a blog, but the computer broke on the bus--it sucked. We went kiyaking in Lake Arenal for about two hours, and the the view was breathtaking. Our tour guide said to us before we went in the lake that the water was very cold, so we should "ten cuidado" be careful. We got in the water and it was like luke-warm bath water. It was so comfortable! We've learned that "cold" here in Costa Rica means perfectly warm and soothing water for the kids from Wisconsin and freezing for everyone else.
Our next stop was La Fortuna waterfall. The hike was 440 crumbly, broken steps down to the bottom of the rainforest, but the long walk was totally worth every minute. The waterfall was much more beautiful then I could even imagine. We found a small train to a sandy beach of to the side of the waterfall, and I'm so glad that we did. The water was pure saphires, and we swam all afternoon in the icy pool with colorful fish that were clearly visible through the crystal water.
The last stop was after a two hour siesta. We traveled to "Baldi", a natural hot springs spa and resort. The 16 hot springs were quite satisfying to our group after we had climbed the 440 stairs back up the rainforest at La Fortuna. I drank $5 coca cola at the swim-up bar, and got lost in the many tropical gardens. Of course at the end of the night, all the Wisconsin kids were found swimming in the one "cold spring" at the resort instead of the blistering hot waters with the locals.

Have to go eat breakfast--more Gallo Pinto!

Love you,

Clare
